If you’re buying
›Is everything on Handora actually handmade?
Yes. Every piece is made by an independent creator — either one-of-a-kind or in small batches. Sellers agree to this when they sign up, and listings that don't fit are removed.
›How are payments handled?
All payments go through Stripe. Your card details never touch our servers. When you buy, your payment is processed and the maker's share is sent to their Stripe account right away — Stripe then pays that out to their bank on its own schedule.
›How does shipping work?
Each maker sets their own shipping rates and ships from their own studio. You'll see the exact shipping cost on the product page and in checkout, calculated from where the maker is and where you're sending it.
›What if my piece arrives damaged or isn't what I expected?
If your order never arrives, arrives damaged or defective, or is significantly different from the listing, the maker is responsible for a refund or replacement — and if the fault is theirs, they also cover return shipping, you never pay it. Open the order on your Orders page and request a refund; the maker reviews it first, and if you can't reach a resolution, our support team steps in.
›What's a shop's returns policy, and where do I find it?
Every shop states, on its shop page, whether it accepts change-of-mind returns (and if so, a 7, 14, or 30-day window) and whether it offers exchanges. That only covers change-of-mind orders — a damaged, defective, wrong, or not-as-described item is the maker's responsibility no matter what a shop's returns setting says.
›What if a seller made a pricing mistake on my order?
A seller can never raise the price on an order you've already placed and paid for. If they listed something incorrectly, the most they can do is ask you to agree to cancel the order — you'll see the request on your order page and can accept or decline. If you decline, your order stands at the price you paid.
›Can I commission a custom piece?
On any shop that accepts custom orders, click "Request a custom piece". Write a brief, attach reference images, and the maker will send back a quote. If you accept the quote, you check out as normal.
›Do you ship internationally?
Most makers ship worldwide. Each listing shows exactly which countries are supported — if your country isn't there, you can still message the maker to ask about a custom arrangement.
For full details on returns and refunds, see our Refund Policy.
If you make things
›How much does Handora charge?
A flat 8% platform fee on the item price (not on shipping). That covers payment processing, hosting, fraud protection, and customer support. You keep 92% of the item price plus 100% of any shipping you charge.
›How do I get paid?
Connect a Stripe account in your seller dashboard. Your share is sent to your connected Stripe account as soon as the order is placed — Stripe then pays that out to your bank on its own schedule, usually within a couple of business days.
›What limits apply to new sellers?
Every shop starts at the "new" trust tier: you can't price an individual piece above $200, and a single order can include at most $200 from one of your line items and $400 total from your shop. Both lift immediately the moment an admin verifies your shop. Separately, every seller's payouts — new or not — are held until each order has been delivered for 7 days with no open dispute or refund request; that one doesn't lift on verification, since a dispute can land on any seller's order.
›How long after shipping can I mark an order delivered?
At least 48 hours after you add tracking. It's a platform-enforced wait, not just a suggestion — an order can't be marked delivered before it could plausibly have arrived.
›Can I change the price on an order after it's placed?
No — a listing's price only affects future orders, never one already placed. If you made a pricing mistake, the only fix is to send the buyer a cancellation request from your orders dashboard; they can accept or decline it. You can never raise the price on an existing order.
›Who covers shipping?
The buyer pays shipping on top of the item price. You set the domestic and international rates on each piece. The full shipping amount comes through to you — Handora takes nothing from shipping.
›Can I sell different sizes at different prices?
Yes. On any size, capacity, or other option field, you can set a specific price per option — for example, 8×10" at $5 and 16×20" at $10. Buyers see the exact price when they pick the option.
›What happens if a buyer requests a refund?
You see the request in your seller dashboard and decide whether to approve or decline, with a note to the buyer. If you approve, Stripe automatically reverses the charge and your transfer — refunds come out of your balance, not Handora's. If the item was damaged, defective, wrong, or not as described, you're also responsible for return shipping; see the Refunds & Returns Policy.
›Can I set my own returns and exchanges policy?
Yes, from a fixed set of choices in Seller dashboard → Profile → Shop policies — whether you accept change-of-mind returns (and a 7/14/30-day window if so) and whether you accept exchanges. Handora generates the exact wording shown to buyers from your choices. This only covers change-of-mind orders — it doesn't affect your responsibility for damaged, defective, wrong, or not-as-described items.
›Can I delete my Handora account any time?
Not while you have orders still in progress, an open Stripe dispute, or an unresolved refund or cancellation request — deletion is blocked until those clear, and you'll see exactly why. This keeps a shop from disappearing mid-transaction.
›Are there any items I can't sell?
No mass-produced, drop-shipped, or AI-generated items. No counterfeit goods. No tobacco or vaping products. No weapons, firearms, ammunition, or explosives. No sexual or adult items — sexual accessories, adult toys, BDSM or bondage equipment, fetish-related products, pornographic material, or any nude/sexually explicit imagery (fine-art nudes like figure drawing or classical sculpture are fine). Nothing connected to sex trafficking or the exploitation of anyone, especially children. No bullying, harassment, or hateful content. Nothing else reasonably harmful to buyers or the community. We remove violating listings immediately without notice, warn the shop by email afterward, and permanently ban a shop after three warnings — see the Creator Agreement for the full policy and enforcement details.
›Why isn't my shop showing up on Handora yet?
Your shop becomes publicly visible — in the creators directory, your shop page, and eligible for the homepage's featured makers — once you've published at least one product. Until then your dashboard is fully usable, but the storefront stays private so buyers don't land on an empty shop. We'll send a few reminder emails if you haven't published anything yet, but nothing is suspended or deleted — publish your first piece and your shop opens up immediately.
Read the full Creator Agreement before opening your shop.
